Hiking trips are part of the meeting. They will take place on Sunday 16 November 2025. Why in the Hlučín region? The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, and it was here - between Hlučín, Bohumín and Opava - that the most intense battles of the Ostrava-Opava Operation took place.
The hiking trails will take you to a system of concrete border fortifications from 1935-1938, which were designed to protect the border from Germany.
One of the main attractions is The area of the Czechoslovak fortification Hlučín-Darkovičky. It is a set of concrete infantry log cabins supplemented with examples of military equipment. This area belongs to the trail of technical attractions of the Moravian-Silesian Region within the Technotrail project.
An interesting location is Smolkov artillery fortress on Padařov Hill in the village of Háj in Silesia. Five concrete buildings are connected by a large underground system, which is not accessible, but there is a hiking trail next to it.
Those who admire architectural gems deserve special attention. World War II Memorial in Hrabyně is an imposing concrete structure that can be seen from afar. The reason why this monument was placed here is because of the fierce fighting that took place in Hrabyně in April 1945, when 90 % of the village were destroyed in heavy clashes.
However, the tourist event Behind the Last Blister is not only focused on concrete monuments. Everyone who is interested in hiking, discovering new places, history and meeting people with the same interests is welcome.
