The Jordán nature trail starts at the K Letišti signpost, located in the forests of the Brdy protected landscape area. The nearest parking or bus stop is a few kilometres from the entrance to the nature trail. This trail is not for everyone, but those who dare to take it will be pleasantly surprised.
At the beginning of the trail, you will definitely encounter an information panel that offers not only basic information, but also a map of the trail route. It also includes a QR code which, if scanned, should take you to the trail's website, where you can supposedly find more details about each stop. Although we don't doubt the functionality of the QR code, we were unable to verify it as most of the trail was without cell signal. This presents a significant complication for internet connectivity.
The nature trail is not very well marked, only occasionally you will come across a signpost. Before you go on the trail, we recommend downloading the offline maps.com app to find the route of the hike and use GPS to navigate the offline map.
Since the nature trail is circular, it is more or less irrelevant which direction you decide to go. Even so, we recommend that you choose the direct route to the Jordan. If you decide to go the other way, you will not only have to climb more, but you will also have to pass a sign prohibiting entry.
The first station on the Jordan Trail is located at the beginning of the former impact area. Here you can get acquainted with the bunkers and the fortress log, and at the same time learn a lot of interesting information about these historical military structures. From here, the trail does not follow the asphalt road to the most famous military bunker in Brdy, the Jordan Infantry Hut, but continues along the blue trail along the edge of the former impact area.
Even if you can't physically get between the bunkers, they'll be in your line of sight at all times. In addition, you will have wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and soon arrive at the Houpák crossroads - a viewpoint from which you will not only have a charming view of the heath, but you will also discover a pleasant place to relax in the forest where you can enjoy a snack in peace.
The nature trail continues mainly through forest terrain, only for a while you will reach the heath. Although the forest is young, beautiful and full of life, the length of the trail is considerable. You won't come across the first stop until almost a kilometre in, so the journey can seem slow. Once you reach the Dlouhý vrch - crossroads, the route becomes more interesting again. Aside from a few bunkers, it soon takes you into a birch grove that is a real rarity. From the birch grove you then head to Parma's reservoir, which although a few steps off the nature trail, is an ideal place to rest.
From Parma's reservoir it is only a short walk to the start of the nature trail. At the barrier, you will notice a sign prohibiting access to the path you came on. But don't worry, if you head in the direction we've described, you won't break any prohibition. Interesting, isn't it?
The Jordan Trail is a fascinating project, but it is not entirely clear what kind of visitors it is targeting. We are struck by the fact that the route passes by many of the important sites of the former Jordan Impact Area and its most important stops. The nearest car park is three kilometres away, which means that the entire trail will take you at least 13 kilometres to walk. On the other hand, we must appreciate that the trail takes visitors to a birch grove, a walk through which is a truly unique experience, especially in autumn. But you'll find out for yourself when you go on the nature trail.
